What this is

ViewDistanceTweaks can record diagnostics about itself (tick times, memory, player counts, view and simulation distances and the reason for every change). Server admins can send these to this service, to help find and fix problems in the plugin. Sending is optional. Nothing is sent unless an admin confirms it with /vdt diagnose send confirm, or switches on the daily report in config.yml (report-upload.daily.enabled, off by default).

What is sent

What is not sent

Your IP address

This service does not store the IP address of the sender, not in the database and not in log files. The web server (nginx) and the service see the address while the connection is open, because that is how a connection works. Access logging is switched off. For a limit on how many reports one sender can upload per day, a hash of the address with a salt that changes daily is kept in memory only, and is gone after 24 hours or when the service restarts. The hosting provider may process connection data in its network as a technical necessity.

Purpose and legal basis

Purpose: finding and fixing problems in the plugin. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), which you give by confirming a manual report or by enabling the daily report. You can withdraw it at any time by not sending further reports or by switching the daily report off. The short technical processing of the IP address needed to answer your request rests on our legitimate interest in running the service (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Storage and deletion

Recipients and processors

Reports are stored on a server in Germany and are not passed on to anyone. Cloudflare, Inc. only provides the DNS entry for the domain. No report data passes through Cloudflare.

Cookies

Senders get no cookies. The operator's admin area uses one session cookie.

Your rights

You have the rights of Art. 15 to 21 GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection). Because the data are anonymous, we can only act on them if you show that a report is yours, for example with the delete key or the secret link. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
